COMING UP THIS WEEKEND (SEPTEMBER 27th)
Don’t forget about the club breakfast at Wings** this Saturday @ 0730. Come early and enjoy breakfast while watching planes land and take off. After breakfast, we’ll be doing our monthly fox hunt. Thank you Frank (KG9M) for volunteering to be the Fox Tender for this hunt. Join us for the regular pre-meeting, this month @ 0900 directly following the monthly club breakfast in the parking lot of Wings. It may be feeling like Fall outside but we’ve got fun outdoor activities coming up this month.
CAMPOUT UPDATE If you’re planning to join us, please RSVP ASAP. We’re closing down RSVP’s THIS Saturday (9/13) so don’t delay. BOARD AND GENERAL CLUB MEETING A reminder that the SFARC board meeting is THIS Thursday (9/12) @ 6P (1800) on Zoom and the general club meeting is THIS Friday (9/13) @ 7:30P (1930) at the Confluence Church Gym in Auburn OR online on Zoom. More information @ www.w6ek.org/activities/meetings

SEPTEMBER FOX HUNTS UPDATE — HUNTS? The first Fox Hunt will be Saturday, 9/20 at a special location; Stampede Reservoir off of Interstate 80, just east of Truckee CA. This Fox Hunt is scheduled to coordinate with the SFARC annual campout. The Fox Hunt will start with a pre-meeting at the camp host’s (base camp site, Site 228) starting after the morning breakfast, usually no earlier than about 10 AM. If you are not planning to camp, then consider coming up for the breakfast (don’t forget to RSVP), stay for the day joining the Fox Hunt later in the morning, enjoy all the afternoon fun events, and then savor the Saturday night dinner (again, please don’t forget to RSVP). Stampede is actually a reasonable drive from most Sacramento areas…less than two hours with normal traffic.
The second Fox Hunt opportunity will be on the last Saturday of the month, September 27. Thank you Frank (KG9M)for volunteering to be the Fox Tender for this Fox Hunt. Regular pre-meeting time of 9 AM directly following the monthly club breakfast in the parking lot of Wings following the SFARC monthly breakfast.

Many of us aspire to put together go-boxes and easy to deploy communications systems, but along the way things often end up more complex than they need to be. Come join us as Bob explains what goes into his builds and how easy they are to operate, both as an individual and a team. If you’ve ever been interested in top-spec portable operations, this is one presentation you won’t want to miss out on!

We’ve had a bit of a lapse on the weekly “watts up” emails due to some summer travel, but we’re back and we’ve got a few updates for this week.

TONIGHT (WEDNESDAY) FIFTH WEDNESDAY SPECIAL PRESENTATION – 07/30/2025
Dr. Ed Fong (WB6IQN) is giving a presentation on how you can build a tri-band 144/220/430 MHz antenna for your VHF and UHF operations. Come join us on Zoom at 7:30 PM on July 30th with plenty of questions and get inspired!

CAMPOUT UPDATE
The SFARC Fall Campout is a little over 6 weeks away. According to our records, campsites 211 and 216 in our base camp loop are still available. Several campsites are also available on the adjacent loop, just a two-minute walk away.

THAT’S A WRAP, FIELD DAY 2025 UPDATE Preliminary numbers are in! With 130+ attendees visiting Georgetown Airport over the weekend making 1,428 contacts across 12 countries, we had ourselves a GREAT Field Day 2025. A big shout out to the setup and cleanup crew (pictured below) who worked hard to make sure everyone had a good time. Thanks to each and every one of you for making the 2025 SFARC Field Day weekend a HUGE success. If you took photos, please remember to upload them @ www.w6ek.org/media/upload <- At this point we've only had ONE member upload so upload before you forget. Club results will be posted once finalized. SFARC FALL CAMPOUT UPDATE September is fast approaching the SFARC Fall Campout planning is underway! If you plan to join us, here's the skinny. * 5 campsites remain in the "SFARC Loop" (map available on the website). * There are plenty of campsites available on the adjacent loop (1 minute walk) * RSVP's are now open. ANTENNA/STATION PLANNING We've got an Antenna Planning Meeting coming up tomorrow night @ 7PM (Monday, June 9th) in the club Zoom room. STATION/SHIFT SIGN UPS We've received a few questions about station sign ups. We'll be launching sign ups soon once we complete the antenna planning meeting and have a good sense of what stations we'll have setup. SHIRTS AND MERCH Shirts, coffee mugs and a bunch of fun merch can be found @ www.w6ek.org/merch Standard shipping lead time is June 14-17 so you’ll want to get on this soon or you might have to pay for expensive shipping if you want to get your stuff by Field Day.
