2023 Feliz Navidad Christmas Prizes
Feliz Navidad Fiesta (Christmas Party) – December 9
It’s almost the end of 2023 and you know what that means: PARTY TIME! And the Club will be doing exactly that on Saturday, December 9 at 5 PM.
The location will be the same place we hold our meetings (the Crossroads Church in Auburn) so you know where that is and how to get there. Because the party last year was so successful, this year’s theme will be the same as last year: a Mexican Fiesta! In fact we are calling it the Feliz Navidad Fiesta (although some, such as those who refuse to abandon AM on 40 meters, will stubbornly continue to call it the Christmas Party).
The entree will be catered by Maria’s Mexican Tacos and will include what you would expect at a Fiesta: pork, chicken, beef, corn torillas, beans, salsa, lettuce, onions, cilantro, lime, rice, sour cream and chips.. The serving table will be set up smorgasbord style so you can ask our seervers to create your own entrée in whatever form you want. The Club will also provide dessert, tableware and nonalcoholic beverages. There is no cost for Club members and a guest to attend the party.
As is tradition there will be contests, drawings, prizes, speeches, memories of the activities of 2023 and camaraderie. We will find out who the winner of the traveling Golden Brick award will be. And we will have the Fourth Annual Trivia contest.
In order to have enough food on hand we need to know if you are coming and how many of “you” there are. We have to tell the caterer by December 1 how many people will be attending so they will know how much food to prepare so please RSVP. RSVP’s cannot be accepted after December 1. You can RSVP by going to the Club’s website and clicking on the link you’ll find there or by clicking below. Please don’t RSVP if you aren’t sure. The food costs the club a lot of money and we hate to see it wasted when people don’t show up.
And as we ask at every event we have at the Church (which facility they graciously provide at no cost) we ask everyone to bring canned/nonperishable goods for the church’s food closet. The Club has been very generous in providing food in the past and this event will be no exception.
Oh – and did I mention there are prizes? Yes there will be a drawing for prizes. Jon, KI6RT, has outdone himself this year coming up with a virtual cornucopia of prizes. On the prize table are a ClearNode, NanoVNAs, QRP rigs, antennas, gift certificates for various places. At the moment there are about 68 separate gifts that you might win but you have to be present to win. One ticket will be given to each club member and one ticket to one adult guest of that member. Unlike previous years no separate ticket will be given for donations to the food closet.
The annual party is a very popular event and is a lot of fun so you won’t want to miss it. It is the kind of event that divides time (was that before or after the party?). If this were a business it would be the kind of party on which careers are built and ended. It will be the talk of the Coffee Break Net for months so you don’t want to miss it.
Put the party on your calendar now and please go to the provided link to RSVP.
