Happy first week of February members and friends! We have a few noteworthy mentions this week.
HAMFEST IS COMING!! WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HAMFEST If you’re new to SFARC, or a new ham, this might be your first ham swap. Or maybe you’re an “old timer”; the SFARC Loomis Hamfest is coming up on March 22nd. Planning is underway and we’re looking for volunteers. EVEN IF you think we already know you’re volunteering, please take a quick minute and visit www.w6ek.org/activities/hamfest/volunteering to get on the list. In addition, we need EVERYONES help getting the word out. If you attend local nets, or even a Northern CA HF swap net, consider making a QST. We’ve crafted a short and simple QST @ www.w6ek.org/activities/hamfest/qstscript … And last, but certainly not least, we have another PLANNING MEETING THIS THURSDAY @ 6PM in the club’s Zoom room. This is the biggest club fundraiser of the year so don’t be shy, come join us and help anyway you can.

EXTRA CLASS UPDATE The SFARC Extra class started last night, however, there were some that could not enroll on the website due to a software bug. If you are one of those people, the issue has been corrected and we’ve added a “Course Selector”. Its a much easier way to sort through all the options. This Saturday (01/25) we’ve got our club breakfast at Mel’s Diner on highway 49 in Auburn. The fun starts at 0730 followed by this month’s Fox Hunt.
A big thanks to Frank KG9M for stepping up to be the W6EK Fox Tender this month.
Fox Hunt details: – Pre-meeting starts at 9:00 AM, Hunt starts at 9:30 AM. – Hunt runs from 9:30 AM to 12:00 Noon. – Fox frequency is 146.565 mHz – Fox Tender will be monitoring 146.430 mHz. – Hunt will be in the greater Auburn area bounded b y Bell Road, Indian Hill Road, Mt. Vernon Road and the Auburn Ravine confluence.

THE HO HO HO HOLIDAY FOX HUNT! | DECEMBER 28TH @ 9AM BUT WAIT, THERES MORE!!! After the club breakfast, join Santa and his sleigh for the last SFARC Fox Hunt of 2024. This month the fun comes to Newcastle with a meet up (pre game) at Denny’s, 681 Newcastle Rd, Newcastle, CA 95658 (south side of Interstate 80) at 9 AM. Quite a few things coming up in the next few days. We’ll start with the big one… HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM SFARC. May Thanksgiving and the rest of the year remind us to be grateful for what we have. Wishing you and yours health and happiness this Thanksgiving and always.

GOBBLE GOBBLE, THE TURKEY… FOX HUNT IS ON! The November fox hunt is coming up on Saturday, November 30th at Johnson Springview Park in Rocklin. This is a beautiful park. This will be a family-friendly walking folk hunt so please encourage folks to bring family, friends, animals, or kids that act like animals. Please note, some of our early promotions listed the park name as Johnson Springfield Park. It is Johnson Springview Park in Rocklin.
The pre-meeting will be at the park starting at 10 AM, followed by the hunt at 10:15 AM.
SFARC HOLIDAY FIESTA RSVP DEADLINE, APPROACHING FAST – NOVEMBER 30TH If you’ve never been to the club’s holiday gathering, you’re missing out. We have a TON of prizes to give away as well as; Gerry’s Trivia Madness, the “Golden Brick” award, current officer recognition and appointment of new officers, and the 2024 year in review slideshow.
