Hey SFARC Members and Friends,
We took a week off with our regularly scheduled emails to give you all a break. The coming weeks are a bit quiet but we have some dates for you to remember.
The SFARC Holiday Fiesta is approaching quick. Save December 7th for a night of fun, friendship, and food. If you’ve never attended the club Christmas party, you’re missing out! The evening includes:
– 2024 Year In Review Slide Show – Gerry’s Trivia Madness – The “Golden Brick” Award – Recognition of officers and installation of new officers – Yummy Catered Dinner – Prizes, Prizes, and More Prizes – NEW FOR 2024: Special Prize for Ugliest Sweater

Ever wanted to ride the rails? Enjoy one of the most scenic rides through the Sierra Nevadas and join your radio friends for a fun trip and overnight in Reno. The dates to remember are March 6-7, so save the date, get the time off work, and get ready.

We understand the frustration and appreciate the feedback regarding the new online voting. In my follow up email earlier, I referred to a menu that I see (as an administrator) but you don’t see. You should see an option for “Election & Surveys”. Look for this link (photo below) when logged in and you will find the option to vote.

Yes, this is the first time we’ve used this service from HCOL so thank you for the patience while we learn some of the in’s and outs. This will likely be the method we use moving forward each month so it IS important to get access to your HCOL account and be able to access it.

Are you getting excited about our first ever 24-hour Fox Hunt? We are inviting all local clubs and friends of SFARC to the first 24-hour, wide area Fox Hunt. The hidden fox transmitter will be located within a 20-mile radius of downtown Auburn, CA. The 2-meter transmitter will be turned on at 9:30 am on October 26th, 2024, and turned off at 10 am on October 27th. This is a self-timed event from a starting point to the transmitter’s location.
Fox hunters may start at any time during the 24-hour event. Start your stopwatch timing when leaving the parking lot of the Historic Auburn Courthouse located at 101 Maple St, Auburn, CA 95603. You may hunt solo or as a team. All team members must leave the starting point at or after the stopwatch timing has started. A correction to the email sent out earlier this morning. The link sent out for member voting was incorrect and does not work. The system generates a custom link for each member, emailed directly from HamClubOnline. Please check your inbox for that message (image below of what it looks like). If its not in your inbox, make sure to check your SPAM folder.

If you’re a member in good standing, and you didn’t receive anything from HamClubOnline (HCOL), please login @ secure.hamclubonline.com/ secure.hamclubonline.com/. secure.hamclubonline.com/ Once you log in, enter SFARC and look for Elections/Survey <– click on that. You should see a link for “New Member Vote”. Click on that and vote and you’re all set.

We’ve got a lot coming up this weekend as well as a special callout from last night’s SFARC VE program.

A BIG congratulations to SFARC members Steve Foley (KO6EBQ /AG), Dudley McFadden (KO6DRM /AG), and Leandro Tuti Alem (KN6ZRX / AG) for their upgrades to General. Also congratulations to Tyler Gilbert (KO6CGD /AG <- new call), Nikolai Chernyshev, and Peter Whitworth (KO6EOE /AG). Last but not least, a BIGGER than life callout. Joe Gerard, who drove in Willows CA after hearing about our awesome VE program, got his Tech, General, and Extra in about the time it takes to have a pizza delivered.  Congratulations to all for their hard work and accomplishments.

Whether you’re unsure of which one to buy, setting out to build your own, or want to increase the performance of what you already have, this is a talk you don’t want to miss!

THIS WEEKEND IS THE CALIFORNIA QSO PARTY
The California QSO Party is this coming weekend starting on 10/05 @ 1600 UTC, ending 10/06 @ 2200 UTC.  Stations outside of California work as many California stations in as many CA Counties as possible. Stations inside California work everyone. Non-CA to non-CA contacts do not count for QSO credit.
