CAMPOUT FIRE ADVISORY

We wanted to get ahead of this in case you hear about it or see smoke on the drive up: a new fire started around 10 AM this morning about six miles southeast of Stampede Reservoir. As of 3 PM, it’s roughly 300 acres with 5% containment and a slow rate of spread. Mother Nature is also helping push the fire away from Stampede.

The important part first —> Logger Campground is open and is not threatened at this time, and we’re still planning on the campout. This is an advisory so you’re not caught off guard, not a cancellation.

Cal Fire has a good amount of equipment on it, both on the ground and in the air. That said, a lot can change overnight with a new fire, both good and bad, so we didn’t want to sit on the news and tell you at the last minute.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on how fast it’s moving, which direction it’s headed, and how containment is coming along. I’ll send another note tomorrow morning, Thursday 9/17, at 9 AM, letting you know whether we’re good to go, pushing the date, or calling it off. If we do end up cancelling, we’ll call or text you with an update. We’ll also provide updates on the QST crawler on the main page.
